The Iris Tote is our debut design, informed by years of sourcing and handling vintage leopard print bags, a true signature of The Hosta.
Handcrafted in a family-run atelier in Scandicci, Florence, the Iris Tote is crafted from premium Italian leopard printed calf hair, leather lined handles and a supple chocolate suede interior. Every detail has been considered with longevity, function and craftsmanship in mind, while a leather base offers added durability for everyday use.
For ease and peace of mind, the tote features a discreet hidden magnetic closure, providing security without compromising its relaxed silhouette.
We worked closely with our Italian tannery to develop a leopard print that feels natural and nuanced, avoiding anything overly uniform or graphic. As a result, each panel is unique, ensuring that no two bags are exactly alike.
Designed to sit comfortably over the shoulder, even when layered with a coat, the Iris Tote balances practicality with an effortless sensibility. Inside, a zipped pocket keeps valuables secure, while multiple slip pockets help organise daily essentials. The spacious interior accommodates a laptop with room to spare.
With the winged sides extended, it becomes the ideal travel companion or generous everyday tote; folded inward, it transforms into a more compact silhouette.
Its construction provides enough structure to hold its shape beautifully, while retaining the easy slouch and character found in the best vintage bags.

Produced slowly in small batches, it reflects a level of craftsmanship that is becoming increasingly rare.
Calf hair is a natural material selected for its rich texture and individuality. Over time, slight softening and textural variation may develop, particularly around seams, corners and areas of regular contact. These changes are an inherent characteristic of calf hair and form part of the material's unique appeal as it evolves with use.
