The Cartier Tank Solo 24mm in 18k yellow gold, reference 3168, is part of the long-standing Tank collection, a line first introduced by Louis Cartier in 1917.

Inspired by the silhouette of military tanks used during World War I, the Tank became a defining design in wristwatch history. The Solo variant, introduced decades later, was created as a modern interpretation of the classic Tank, maintaining the original’s proportions and style while incorporating more contemporary materials and movements.

Reference 3168 features a 24mm case in solid 18k yellow gold, a size that reflects the balanced elegance of traditional Cartier design.

This particular model is equipped with a quartz movement, marking a shift in Cartier’s production during the late 20th and early 21st centuries when quartz technology was embraced for its accuracy and low maintenance.

The dial carries the signature Cartier elements: Roman numerals, a chemin de fer minute track, and blue sword-shaped hands.

The 3168 exemplifies the brand’s ability to evolve while staying rooted in its design heritage.

Though now discontinued, it remains part of the broader story of the Tank’s adaptation across eras, combining historical design cues with modern practicality.

The tan leather strap is a replacement and not Cartier. This will fit from 15 - 19cm.
